WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
On behalf of everyone at Skate Canada, it is my pleasure to invite you to join us virtually on May 28th and 29th for the 2021 Skate Canada Ice Summit. Pre-conference activities kick off on May 15th with a two-day skating seminar hosted by World and Olympic Champion Meagan Duhamel. Characteristic of the Annual Ice Summit is the ability of participants to hear from, and interact with, some of the most critical contributors in Canadian skating, including coaches, officials, volunteers and club and section administrators. For the first time, we will bring the Ice Summit – consisting of a virtual conference, tradeshow, and vendor booths – to you in a creative and innovative fashion.
With inevitable change and adaptation being factors that we have all experienced this past year due to the pandemic, the theme that anchors the Ice Summit is Change Connecting Community. Through a wide variety of interactive, educational workshops, including Safe Sport and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and an inspirational address by keynote speaker and former CFL star Henry Burris, there will certainly be something for all!
The annual Ice Summit will also recognize the many accomplishments achieved this past season by our organization and our extremely dedicated volunteers. The Annual General Meeting will occur on Saturday, May 29th and is open to all Skate Canada Member Clubs and Skating Schools, Member Coaches, Section Chairs and Section Offices.
Learning and connecting with others around a sport we love is what we are aiming to do with this year’s annual Ice Summit. Establishing personal connections, engaging in discussion and sharing ideas across our diverse skating community will allow us to emerge from the pandemic with enhanced focus and strength as we continue to be a pre-eminent skating and sport organization both domestically and globally.
I look forward to welcoming you to the annual Ice Summit as we continue to create history together.
Sincerely,
Leanna Caron
President
