DRESDEN, Germany – Canada’s two pairs entries each gained three spots in the standings with strong free skates on Saturday to conclude the seventh and final stop on the ISU Junior Grand Prix figure skating circuit.

Evelyn Walsh of London, Ont., and Trennt Michaud of Strathroy, Ont., moved from eighth after the short program to fifth while Justine Brasseur of Brossard, Que., and Mathieu Ostiguy of Ste-Angèle-de-Monnoir, Que., went from ninth to sixth.

Anastasia Mishina and Vladislav Mirzoev of Russia won the gold medal, Anna Duskova and Martin Bidar of the Czech Republic the silver and Alina Ustimkina and Nikita Volodin of Russia the bronze.
In women’s competition, Sarah Tamura of Burnaby, B.C. moved from seventh to sixth with her free skate. Anastasiia Gubanova of Russia won the gold medal.
